“The National Legal Officers College (NLOC) is a formal in-residence course for legal officers. It is the equivalent of a Region Staff College with course procedures being the same. Appointment authority for the NLOC director will be the CAP Chief of the Legal Officer Corps (CAP/JA). Curriculum development and content are a collaborative effort between the CAP/JA, the NHQ General Counsel, NLOC Director, and NHQ/PD. Report NLOC completion in accordance with [CAPR 50-17] paragraph 6-3(e). No military PME equivalencies are acceptable as a substitute for NLOC.”

National Legal Officers College is deemed to be equivalent to Region Staff College (RSC) as described in CAPR 50-17, ¶ 6-3(f)(1).

In accordance with CAPR 111-1, ¶ 5(b), attendance at NLOC will be reported as a professional development activity as described in CAPR 50-17, ¶ 6-3(e). NLOC Staff and NHQ/GCP will facilitate this reporting for attendees.

Attendance at National Legal Officers College is required to achieve the master rating in the Legal Officer specialty track of the CAP Senior Member Professional Development program (CAPP 219, p. 10).

Attendance at National Legal Officers College is also required for a legal officer to be promoted to the grade of lieutenant colonel (CAPR 35-5, ¶ 5.4.1.5).
